ITERATIVE DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY
Each Iteration/Phase follows “local” waterfall model and produces interim results for evaluation/approval.
Strengths:
• Offers relatively quick response to changing business needs/requirements, thus flexible
• Inputs and outputs of each iteration are well defined
• Planned and predictable results within iteration
• Better customer satisfaction due to customer’s involvement
Weaknesses:
• The number of iterations may not be predictable
• The end result may not be predictable
• Requires very strong project management
When to use:
• An evolving product with relatively stable and well defined short term requirements
• Requirements and business needs are likely to change relatively quickly over time
• It is required to speed up product’s time to market
• Customer involvement is guaranteed
